Weight-loss Tricks that Work

When you are my age, your metabolism slows down that whatever you eat develops bulges in places you don’t desire.  Gaining weight is synonymous to aging that is why there is a funny (but true) saying that your waist determines your age.  This means that if your waist line is 24 inches you can’t be (generally) over 24 years of age.  But regardless of the justifications, we need to be conscious of our weight, cautious of our diet and our physical activities.  As (single) moms, we need the ideal weight and stamina to attend to our chores. We need to take care of our body to ensure our health and well-being.  Following are some weight-loss tricks that I read (did and still practising) sometime ago.  These for me are weight-loss tricks that work and I would love to get your feedback if these weight-loss tricks also worked for you.

You may find these weight-loss tricks funny and non-traditional.  Well, if you are like me who is tired of all the usual stuff we hear from fitness and health gurus, I suggest you give these weight-loss tricks a try.
Peppermint can decrease your hunger pangs and cut calories. Sniffing peppermint scent every two hours will reduce your hunger and result to lower intake of calories.  According to Wheeling Jesuit University associate professor of psychology, Bryan Raudenbush, PhD, peppermint distracts your hunger pangs causing you to lose appetite. Note that you need to dab peppermint oil on a wristband or an inhaler; sniffing a peppermint candy will not work.
Though, I was made to believe that blue is a food color, the study by Val Jones, MD, and the Parsons School of Design in New York proved me wrong.  In their study, they set up three rooms in three different colored overhead lights (yellow, red and blue).  The participants were given identical plates of snacks. The participant in the yellow room consumed the most food and the people in the blue room consumed the least food.
I always sleep in a cool room so I am not sure if this contributes to weight loss but then again according to the National Institute of Health Clinical Center, sleeping in a relatively cool room will help burn calories. They conducted a research where they had 31 people sleep in either a 75 degree room or a 66 degree room. Those who slept in the cooler rooms burned 7 percent more calories—possibly because their bodies were working to raise their body temperatures to 98.6 degrees.
This may be funny but you will love this weight loss trick – massage your earlobes.  Massaging earlobes is an Eastern alternative medicine treatment similar to acupuncture.  It is based on the concept that energy flow through specific points called “meridians”.  When meridians are blocked, the energy imbalances cause cravings. One appetite suppressant point is located on the fleshy flap part of the ear above the ear lobe and in front of the ear canal. So the next time, cravings attack, just apply gentle to firm finger pressure on your earlobes. Even if it will not reduce your weight, you will enjoy massaging your earlobes.
Again, you might find this trick funny but I did try it once; I ate in front of a mirror. According to researchers from Arizona State University and Erasmus University Rotterdam, you eat less if you watch yourself eat. According to the researchers if you watch yourself eat you become more conscious of your body causing you not to overeat.
